Software configuration management connects source history, build inputs, permissions, and release processes. A useful assessment starts with how teams actually submit, build, and recover their work.

Configuration management assessments

RCJackson Consulting works with software configuration and version control systems, including Perforce deployments. An assessment can examine repository layout, server capacity, replication, access controls, and the steps needed to restore a usable server.

Storage and recovery planning

Version archives often grow faster than the active working set. Moving archived bytes to object storage changes the failure modes and latency of file access. Capacity estimates should include cloud request and retrieval charges, metadata, local cache space, and recovery requirements.

ObjectVeil provides file caching and tiering for supported Linux applications. Its Perforce integration includes archive upload and restore tools. Every new application still needs validation of its file operations and coordination of writers.

Release and migration validation

A migration plan should identify who can write each path, which bytes have reached durable cloud storage, and how to recover if a host disappears. Testing should cover concurrent writes, interrupted uploads, credential failures, and restoration on another machine.
